Sources: Rockets Trade James Harden to Nets in Four-Team Blockbuster

The Houston Rockets have traded away James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets in a blockbuster four-team trade that includes the Pacers and Cavaliers. This trade will conclude Harden’s disgruntled exit from Houston and will establish a potential super team in Brooklyn, sources tell ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne.

The deal between the Nets and Rockets included a package of multiple players and draft picks and featured rising star guard Caris LeVert, who was then immediately flipped and traded to the Pacers for Victor Oladipo, sources tell SHD.

Additionally, backup center Center Jarrett Allen and forward Taurean Prince are headed from the Nets to the Cavaliers in the deal, according to sources, and in return, the Rockets receive Cleveland guard Dante Exum and Brooklyn forward Rodions Kurucs

Brooklyn also gave up three unprotected first-round picks to Houston– 2022, 2024, and 2026 — in the deal, plus pick swaps in 2021, 2023, 2025, and 2027, according to sources. The Rockets will also get an additional pick from Cleveland and will receive their 2022 first-round pick, via the Milwaukee Bucks.

The megadeal which was in the works since the offseason will reunite Harden with his former Oklahoma City teammate Kevin Durant in Brooklyn and position the Nets — who also have All-Star guard Kyrie Irving — as a title contender in the Eastern Conference.

After the Rockets opted to keep Harden out of Wednesday’s team practice, the trade was agreed to. This also followed the comments that the former MVP made on Tuesday, stating that Houston isn’t “good enough” to compete for a championship.
